Scrappy Ribbon Hair Ties
Daisy seems to have inherited her parents’ packratting ways. She saves every bit of leftover ribbon and scraps of other pretty remnants of our crafty projects, so we dipped into her stash to make these super-cute and beyond simple hair ties. We’re making them for all of our summer birthday girlfriends.

To start, scrounge up a hair elastic and cut a few scraps of ribbon, bias tape, or ric rac (or all three!) to about 4″ to 5″ in length. If they’re made of synthetic material, hold the ends near a flame to melt them a bit and keep them from fraying. Don’t do this with cotton, it’ll catch fire, and don’t put synthetics directly in the flame or they melt way too much. Just get close for a bit of meltage.

Now this is where it gets tricky. Tie each piece of ribbon in a knot around the hair elastic. Okay, so it’s not tricky. That’s it. If you want to get fancy, you can tie the knots in different directions to make them a bit fluffier. This was great practice for Daisy, fine motor skills and all that, but I didn’t let her near the flame, for goodness sakes!
Here’s my favorite, made with thrifted ric rac and bias tape.

L O V E this idea!!
Pretty! I want one too
Love this idea and so easy even I can do it! Addi Grace has started loving pony tails too! Yea!
Thanks! I almost wondered if this was *too* simple, but they're just so cute!
This is cute and simple, I know my daughter will love this.
This is so cute-my daugter is 4 and having a daddy/daugther campout. I was trying to think of a cute easy craft for dad’s and the girls to do-this will be great. Thanks
